I'm on week 8 and getting slight pain in my shins after runs. Anyone got advice about resting between runs? I normally have 2 or 3 days rest in between runs, but should I take a week off for shins to heal? Tips appreciated. Regards grant

Is the pain only after the run? I had chronic shin splints through my teen years and it was always during walking and would subside shortly after I stopped.

Yup, only after the run ...gonna rest for day longer and only do 25 mins on Saturday...my pal said do stretches on rest days too?

Are you doing any after-run stretches?

You might need proper shoes fitting with a gait analysis

Ach, hope I dont after shelling out 85 on asics, but probably worth it. Did you get gait analysis?

Yes for my first shoes but now I know what I need, I can get them cheaper online. ASICS gave me shin splints.

I’ve had a few issues recently with my left shin. The pain would start as soon a I stopped running. I decided after my run last Friday that I needed a little break as I didn’t want to cause more damage! Today was my first run since last Friday and so far so good- no post run shin pain!!

I was a little reluctant at first to take some time out but it was definitely worth it!

Many thanks for advice, will try longer rest and only running on grass for less time.

First run today after weird hayfever virus. Ran with new compression socks and heel cups for shorter 21 mins, over 4k...felt better...going to repeat tomorrow
