I use a treadmill for exercise but get back pain if I try to run.
Is walking at 6Km ph after a short warm up to burn 100 to 200 Calories per day as a start adequate. This usually gives a heart rate of about 115 pm at the end of spell usually from 10 to 30 minutes.

Back pain after running could well be a sign of poor core strength and is not at all uncommon. Planks and bridges will improve this situation. Running strength is not just about legs.
