Increasing pace

Hi all,

I finished Couch to 5K a few weeks ago - feel amazing! Have carried on going for a 30 min run every other day, and doing 5k's on the weekend run (approx 38-40 mins). My pace though is staying pretty much the same - any tips for increasing pace? Should I mix up my runs and do some shorter, quicker runs?

Any advice appreciated :)

Hello!

Glad you are enjoying your running. I was where you are now about 18 months ago, even to the point of doing 38min best for my 5k (although a 43 was more comfortable for me).

To comment on how you can speed up we really need a bit more info on age, fitness etc.

I'm in my early 50's (having to start again) and found it very difficult to go 'faster'... but certainly trying shorter faster runs from time to time can help.

All the best

Bridge to 10k - go on the other forum.

Slow down with 2 runs and make your other run hills or intervals maybe one a week or every other week.
