Red January goes dark no.14

β€’28 Replies

It's a rare night off work, and means it's a treat ( oh the little things in life 🀣) to grab an opportunity to run at night πŸ‘.

BUT WITHOUT ANY FURTHER WAFFLE!

REMEMBER THE SAYING

"BE SAFE BE SEEN"

GET LIGHT'S, WEAR HI-VIZ!!! EASYπŸ™‚

Its drizzling, a chilly 2Β°c and it's blumin exhilarating, just that cloud of breath in your torch beam, and the way the night comes right at you...... I nearly tripped on a rabbit making a dash for it, I'd probably spooked it πŸ™ƒ. I mean seriously??

The mist is clinging to the bare trees in the lanes. A route I know well, always wise don't go venturing especially alone in the dark, I mean why would you risk it?

The canal is I'd say more special with the darkness, the canal boat windows glowing softly it just makes it perfect πŸ€—.

I could've run for longer but a date with daughters and monopoly is calling so oh well maybe longer next time 🀫

Happy Running you lot keep safe and healthy and even wear those masks or buffs πŸ‘

Great run ! That high viz is spot on! What a lovely day off and thanks for including tips for running in the darkπŸ‘πŸ‘Œ. When I started C25K I wanted to be invisible, it was a bit idiotic on my part, but have since seen the light. πŸ•Ί

in reply to limu_mu

Thanks limu_mu it amazes me those I see both running and cycling with no lights or Hi-viz............... WHY?

True! on my part lack of awareness and insecurity. Really boring stuff not worth getting hurt for. Did some high viz customisation on that running gear. Try and post some pics, nice activity with the young ones too. πŸ˜„

This is great , the other night about 9pm I was wide awake and thought ooh I could run , But no light and no hi vis and I’m sort of rural so no street lights and not to mention I’d be s**t scared πŸ™ˆπŸ€£

in reply to Tracytrace

Ohhhhhh Tracytrace it's not scary (very) but definitely get a light πŸ‘

Good advice on the lights and hiviz, important this time of year πŸ‘πŸ» great commitment running in those conditions too, I've only been running 4-5 months so didn't attempt the red January thing as still need my rest days as a novice runner. Next year though I may be tempted πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

in reply to Jericho2332

Great decision there Jericho2332, those rest days are vitally important to let those muscles rest and repair!!

You're making brilliant progress, and I'm sure they'll be another Red January next year πŸ‘

Ooooo! Especially love the pics of the glowing towpath and spooky tree. And love the idea of the breath dispersing in the torchlight.

in reply to GailXrunning

Ahhhh taaaa GailXrunning the shadows are truly captivating especially along the waterside πŸ‘
