Asthma worsening

Istillhaterunning profile image

Hi, I’m on week 3 and I’ve noticed my asthma has got significantly worse, I’m now taking steroids and my blue inhaler on a regular basis. Before I started I rarely used my blue inhaler (once a week, now most days) anyone else notice this? Does it settle down or is something else going on?

Hi. I have asthma and am still finding managing my breathing tricky when running, particularly the first 10 mins, then it does seem to ease a bit. Taking your preventer inhaler religiously is key and has made a difference to me. I used to be pretty good with it but sometimes missed the odd one or two. The cold weather may be exacerbating your asthma. If it doesn’t settle down over the next couple of weeks, I’d speak to your doctor just to be on the safe side. Good luck with the running.

Are you covering your mouth when running? if not try it.Mouth breathing very cold air can be a problem, a buff or a scarf may help by warming the air very slightly..

I should have mentioned I’m inside on a treadmill, so definitely nothing to do with the cold air.

You should check with your doc, there is something called exercise induced asthma, and you might need your inhalers tweaking. XX

Hi there, I have asthma and running does occasionally seem to aggravate my asthma. I use my brown inhaler religiously but have found the best thing to keep control of my asthma when running is to use the blue inhaler about 5-10mins before I start running. It works really well for me, maybe give that a go? If in any doubt, you should contact your asthma nurse. Good luck and happy runnings! 🏃🏻‍♀️👍🏻

We noticed on today's dog walk (South Wales) that the alder catkins were looking nice and purple. They may have started releasing pollen. Could that be connected to your wheezing?
