Welcome back to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

It sounds like you are suffering from shin splints. Basically the muscles as causing tiny fractures to occur. To get rid of them you could try strapping them, have a look on YouTube on how to do that and your arch of your foot needs to be supported as well which is usually as a result of wearing the wrong trainers. So get your gait measured but get some new trainers which supports the archb of your foot.

If it is shin splints (which can be as much tendon problems as it can be mini fractures), some calf stretches could help. Take an extra rest day now so you're not aggravating things.

I feel your pain! I have shin splits and spoke to a physio last week. She advised me not to run for 3 weeks, which I’m gutted about 😩 and gave me some stretching exercises, which I am doing religiously.

Please please, be careful not to injure yourself further. It does seem stretching is the way to go with this

Sometimes it is or sometimes it isn't shin splints.

Of course make sure you're taking all the precautions, and you've had a gait analysis and fitting for shoes with adequate cushioning for you, I have the odd niggle with discomfort in the lower shin which comes and goes occasionally.. Luckily not too often.

So maybe have more rest and slow down jast a tad and make sure you try and land more with your forefoot "kissing the ground"as oldfloss would say, and not slamming your heal down..
