For the avoidance of any doubt I was NOT running in my nightgown ๐๐ฑ
Having had such a lovely graduation run wandering through the lanes, streets and around the squares in my village which clocked up a third of my running time rather nicely, I decided to do more of the same ๐
Set off nice and slowly and kept my pace in order ๐ This run and my previous one have been almost identical in that the first two kilometres were the same pace and the last two and a half were 30secs to one minute faster .
For me the result is I enjoy the run , there is no huffing and puffing and I donโt look like a ๐ ( much ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ)
So Iโm getting the hang of something I think , and itโs good .....l I just canโt put my finger on what it is though. I am just going to try and replicate it all the time and hope it gradually results in a little more distance each time .
Anyway , no glitches today I just put Laura on the podcast , Jo has burnt her bridges with me ๐๐ thereโs only so many times you can be dumped mid run ๐๐
Today I ran through the streets for 20 minutes and that brought me to the place where I used to start my run . I normally started off close to the long road down to the shore and it was a good route for the various weeks of the programme . However running in the village is possibly a little more interesting as it has some quaint wee lanes , cottages and houses with lovely semi hidden courtyards you can try and peer into as you pass .
Some of the streets have tiny lanes running beside the houses through to the next lane , just the width of a person . At 7am itโs still quiet, streetlights still on , only a few people around on their way to the bakers or for their newspaper . .... I loved it ๐
This made the whole run quite different and I was fully engaged just looking around me with little thought of โhow long to goโ etc
Going to do more of this ๐
So basically more of the same please ! Certainly until Iโve had a good read of the guide IannodaTruffe sent and I read a few more posts this will be a nice way to consolidate and try and get some consistency just within 30-33 mins .
But gosh it took awhile to roll out of bed today , itโs so dark now ! ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฑ

Great post, I did have a giggle in places! Glad you didnโt have any glitches for a change and I agree with you, Iโll likely be a little braver now and run more through the village. (I certainly canโt be running through my country lanes in the dark anyway). Itโs great to have stuff to distract you.
A lot of people seem to write about C1 being a struggle so extra well done! ๐๐ผ
Thanks CC , it was definitely a struggle getting up ๐ฑ so a new gremlin to swing youโre bat at , the one that is worrying about continuing . Continuing as it gets darker, continuing with the routine etc
Sometimes I crave routine , think it will be good for me ๐ but then when I get it I feel trapped โby routineโ ...... human beings ๐๐๐
Anyway Iโve decided not to overthink it (thereโs that word again) and sort of โgo with the flowโ whilst reminding myself of all the work Iโve put in .
Itโs a bit like tennis , one point (run) at a time ๐๐
Hopefully that will be enough to keep me on the straight and narrow
Hope your C1 is good and that youโre back to fighting fit for it ๐
Great post RacingintheStreet and the perfect description of an early morning run, loving the photo too. It sounds that like me you still like to hear a friendly voice in your ear keeping you company as your running along. Have you tried the Nike Run Club app, Coach Bennett is great, cheery and full of wit and wisdom and you can still listen to your own playlist too. Itโs free with lots of runs to choose from of various times and distances...check it out I think youโd enjoy it๐
Thanks ๐yes I like early morning as everything is slowly coming to life .
Also thanks for the recommendation , Iโm late posting here but I have now done C2 with .......... Coach Bennett ๐๐ Totally hooked now ๐ ๐
Iโm glad to hear your enjoying it ๐I used it to gradually increase my distance, I like the 5 and 6k ones, Iโve done those a few times, also the 10k ones and once I even tackled the 13k one, but that was hard ๐ฌ
What a lovely photo and a fab post ๐ It sounds as though itโs great just to be able to run with no pressure. I can almost visualize where youโre running.... am presuming you didnโt spot the lady in the red anorak today ๐ค๐
I canโt wait until we can return back to the UK and can run by the coast or through a little village likes yours, it sounds idyllic ๐
Thanks CazzaW , I am very grateful we made the move here especially the way life is just now . It took me 40 years of house moves to get to the sea though ๐ i like the old part of the village , itโs very old and quaint, but like all villages itโs grown and has lots of newer bits too. Itโs very flexible for running though and I felt running around it would be a healthy and spirits lifting type thing to do . The lady in the red anorak was nowhere to be seen ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Well done on your first consolidation run ๐โโ๏ธ
Sounds like you have a very pretty village to run through, certainly sounds interesting, would be for me as Iโm slightly nosey lol. I lived in a pretty village and was nice to run through. I have since moved and we live very rural now so not as much to look at so will be more of a challenge.
Yes I went out of my comfort zone which hopefull6 will keep me motivated . Getting out was a bit of a struggle , so dark these mornings . ๐ฑ๐ฑ not easy
Great post and it sounds such a lovely place where you run. Iannoda Truffe's article is a Godsend isn't it? Packed full of tips and advice on what to expect and things to try out in the consolidation phase.
๐๐ thanks , it was what I felt like , although Wee Willie Winkies pace was a fair bit quicker than mine . Exploring has given me other options which is good . The village is very safe and well lit too so I felt comfortable ๐๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Thank you Tiny Tears ๐ yes I enjoyed it and trying to keep it that way ๐ค๐ค As the days shorten I feel I must come up with other routes that are well lit etc. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐
