โ€˜Wee Willie Winkie Ran through theTownโ€™ - Consolidation R1

For the avoidance of any doubt I was NOT running in my nightgown ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Having had such a lovely graduation run wandering through the lanes, streets and around the squares in my village which clocked up a third of my running time rather nicely, I decided to do more of the same ๐Ÿ™‚

Set off nice and slowly and kept my pace in order ๐Ÿ‘Œ This run and my previous one have been almost identical in that the first two kilometres were the same pace and the last two and a half were 30secs to one minute faster .

For me the result is I enjoy the run , there is no huffing and puffing and I donโ€™t look like a ๐Ÿ… ( much ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ)

So Iโ€™m getting the hang of something I think , and itโ€™s good .....l I just canโ€™t put my finger on what it is though. I am just going to try and replicate it all the time and hope it gradually results in a little more distance each time .

Anyway , no glitches today I just put Laura on the podcast , Jo has burnt her bridges with me ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ thereโ€™s only so many times you can be dumped mid run ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Today I ran through the streets for 20 minutes and that brought me to the place where I used to start my run . I normally started off close to the long road down to the shore and it was a good route for the various weeks of the programme . However running in the village is possibly a little more interesting as it has some quaint wee lanes , cottages and houses with lovely semi hidden courtyards you can try and peer into as you pass .

Some of the streets have tiny lanes running beside the houses through to the next lane , just the width of a person . At 7am itโ€™s still quiet, streetlights still on , only a few people around on their way to the bakers or for their newspaper . .... I loved it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

This made the whole run quite different and I was fully engaged just looking around me with little thought of โ€˜how long to goโ€™ etc

Going to do more of this ๐Ÿ‘Œ

So basically more of the same please ! Certainly until Iโ€™ve had a good read of the guide IannodaTruffe sent and I read a few more posts this will be a nice way to consolidate and try and get some consistency just within 30-33 mins .

But gosh it took awhile to roll out of bed today , itโ€™s so dark now ! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Great post, I did have a giggle in places! Glad you didnโ€™t have any glitches for a change and I agree with you, Iโ€™ll likely be a little braver now and run more through the village. (I certainly canโ€™t be running through my country lanes in the dark anyway). Itโ€™s great to have stuff to distract you.

A lot of people seem to write about C1 being a struggle so extra well done! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Thanks CC , it was definitely a struggle getting up ๐Ÿ˜ฑ so a new gremlin to swing youโ€™re bat at , the one that is worrying about continuing . Continuing as it gets darker, continuing with the routine etc

Sometimes I crave routine , think it will be good for me ๐Ÿ˜‚ but then when I get it I feel trapped โ€˜by routineโ€™ ...... human beings ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

Anyway Iโ€™ve decided not to overthink it (thereโ€™s that word again) and sort of โ€˜go with the flowโ€™ whilst reminding myself of all the work Iโ€™ve put in .

Itโ€™s a bit like tennis , one point (run) at a time ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™‚

Hopefully that will be enough to keep me on the straight and narrow

Hope your C1 is good and that youโ€™re back to fighting fit for it ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Oh my days...itโ€™s a consolidation run ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I was just trying to visualise Wee Willie Winkie...Er no...๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ›Œ๐Ÿ•ฏ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I love peering in front gardens, theyโ€™re all so different...

How fab though, to just go out and run...just because you can ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅฐ

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ yes itโ€™s a great opportunity have a peek through gates and alleyways ๐Ÿง

Lovely time to run too as the light is just breaking and the world is waking up .

Good luck with R3 ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Great post RacingintheStreet and the perfect description of an early morning run, loving the photo too. It sounds that like me you still like to hear a friendly voice in your ear keeping you company as your running along. Have you tried the Nike Run Club app, Coach Bennett is great, cheery and full of wit and wisdom and you can still listen to your own playlist too. Itโ€™s free with lots of runs to choose from of various times and distances...check it out I think youโ€™d enjoy it๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m glad to hear your enjoying it ๐Ÿ˜I used it to gradually increase my distance, I like the 5 and 6k ones, Iโ€™ve done those a few times, also the 10k ones and once I even tackled the 13k one, but that was hard ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I really enjoyed listening and can see me using the former of your suggestions ( 5 & 6 k ) but I suspect not the latter ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Wonโ€™t be doing 10 k any time soon ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿฅต

What a lovely photo and a fab post ๐Ÿ˜€ It sounds as though itโ€™s great just to be able to run with no pressure. I can almost visualize where youโ€™re running.... am presuming you didnโ€™t spot the lady in the red anorak today ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‚

I canโ€™t wait until we can return back to the UK and can run by the coast or through a little village likes yours, it sounds idyllic ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks CazzaW , I am very grateful we made the move here especially the way life is just now . It took me 40 years of house moves to get to the sea though ๐Ÿ˜‚ i like the old part of the village , itโ€™s very old and quaint, but like all villages itโ€™s grown and has lots of newer bits too. Itโ€™s very flexible for running though and I felt running around it would be a healthy and spirits lifting type thing to do . The lady in the red anorak was nowhere to be seen ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Well done on your first consolidation run ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sounds like you have a very pretty village to run through, certainly sounds interesting, would be for me as Iโ€™m slightly nosey lol. I lived in a pretty village and was nice to run through. I have since moved and we live very rural now so not as much to look at so will be more of a challenge.

Aiming to do my C1 tomorrow or Sat. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good luck with C1 hope it goes well ๐Ÿ‘Œ I would probably have liked to be a bit more rural but I got the sea ( after 40 years of house moves ) .

Great post and it sounds such a lovely place where you run. Iannoda Truffe's article is a Godsend isn't it? Packed full of tips and advice on what to expect and things to try out in the consolidation phase.

Ps. Your title had me laughing out loud! ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ thanks , it was what I felt like , although Wee Willie Winkies pace was a fair bit quicker than mine . Exploring has given me other options which is good . The village is very safe and well lit too so I felt comfortable ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Such a happy, fun post and as you describe things - I feel Iโ€™m running with you ... taking quick glimpses of the courtyards and gardens...

Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Happy running and stay safe as the days shorten and the darkness comes ๐Ÿ’•

Thank you Tiny Tears ๐Ÿ™‚ yes I enjoyed it and trying to keep it that way ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž As the days shorten I feel I must come up with other routes that are well lit etc. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™‚
