Hangovers like feeling and knee pain

Hello! I had some not nice news last night and today would have been great to go for a run to boost my mood a little.

I managed to get into my running gear, my knee was kinda sore but not too much I reckon I could jog for at least 20 min.

But the most overwhelming thing was this feeling of being absolutely exhausted, just like I'd be after a hangover. I had a half glass of wine last night and with food. I drank lots of water I ate well, I had breakfast twice today I don't get it. It might be that I didn't in fact drink that much water?

Last night I went to the loo in the middle of the night like 3 times.

Now my knee is also sore, like a lot sorer than I want to admit. What do I do about my knee, is not unbearable, I can still walk, should I stop and let it get better on its own and then go back to running? Or what? What would you do?

Sounds like you’ve caught a bug. It’s that time of year for it, kids back at school, spreading germs (not mentioning the pandemic).

As for the knee, I’d stop running but keep mobile. Gentle walks, building up gradually to harder ones as you recover, tackling inclines then hills, as long as the knee doesn’t complain.

If it’s a long term complaint, I’d seek professional advice. 🙂

Thank you Ian.

I think I got the bug "I'm too old for this shite" since with the COVID thing my flatmates come and go so much the landlord would have to install a revolving door.

I'd definitely opt for the rest heals policy Starkeygo, the risk of worsening that knee through running where body weight is amplified..... Don't do it! Maybe a gentle flat bike ride or swim just not the running

For how long though😭

Tricky question, but a full recovery will serve you well, perhaps look at some strengthening exercises, squats or lunges

Will do but when my knees stop acking. I bought some support bands and that helps

Anything that helps is a great idea Starkeygo, I went over on my ankle playing squash..... When u was younger and fitter 🤫 and afterwards when I resumed playing, always wore an ankle strap. The reassurance was brilliant, perhaps I didn't need it but I kept wearing it 👍
