What’s going on?

So since completing C25k a week or so again ( and finding the last week ok) I’ve done 3 consolidation runs leaving a day between each. The first was ok and ran 4.2k. I’ve failed to complete the other 2. One had some gentle incline which I’m not used to, today’s was attempted in muggy weather. Think I’m making excuses but don’t understand what has changed. Anyone else had this running block? Maybe it’s psychological now I know I can run for 30mins? Feeling quite deflated and already dreading my next one

It is hard to motivate without the app and programme etc. I went for total distraction. Podcast / audio book, different route etc then just run with a 30 mins timer. If you can get into the zone...slow and steady. Don't worry about personal bests etc. You are just running. Some sessions will be faster and others slower. None are fails. Try and regain the fun element. 😎👍🏼

I’ve tried listening to the last run of week 9 on the app but that doesn’t help me. I’ll try again in a couple of days

There is a podcast called Runpod which is quite motivating and distracting. Available on Spotify if that helps. Good luck.

Don't be too hard on yourself

You say you don't know what's changed , well from your post I see 3 things that have changed .

1. You no longer have the structure of the program .

2. You said you had a hill you weren't used too.

3. It was warm and muggy this morning ,

Have you been across to the bridge to 10 forum , or looked at the suggestions in the consolidation club ?

There are several ideas for keeping your running on track .

Remember, you are still learning and growing as a runner and your runs were not a fail !

They are all progress.

Another thing you might want to consider is the Nike running club app where you can get guided runs based on either time or distance .

I guess what I'm also saying is cut yourself some slack, have a think about what you want from your running .

But most of all enjoy whenever you run !

Good luck 😁👍

Couldn't agree more on the Nike Running App, that's what I've been doing and i've completed the guided 4km run a few times and if you enter what distance or time you want to run, the app will keep you informed.

The guided 4km run is something I like as the coach tells you how long you have left in terms of distance rather time. Give it a go, it makes the runs more enjoyable.

Yes, I've been exactly the same. I did one consolidation run which was fine but since then I feel the need to stop several times during the run. I've tried listening to Jo Whiley on week 9 again but my head is telling me to give in. So annoying xx

I’m sorry you’re having the same problem as me but it’s good to know it’s not just me!

The incline will have taken a little more energy... and today was pretty tough out there near me, still quite warm and humidity was high... nowhere for the sweat to go, so no cooling.

Maybe run that one with the incline the opposite way, a nice gentle decline could feel pretty great.

Next one will be better.

Don’t worry. After graduating I often did just 1k. Then I might do 3k and back to 1k. I used the NHS post C25K podcasts free on ITunes for speed and endurance but hated all the BPM stuff. That’s just me though. Don’t push yourself further than you want to. You will get there in the end I promise.
