Returning after illness

Hi. This is my first time on this forum. I am returning to running after being treated for cancer. I’m not a “serious“ runner. IE entering marathons I’m more the 5k sort of runner. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year and had surgery in June this year. Once on the table they found due to COVID postponement the cancer was breaking out so the surgery was more intense than planned. Finally got the all clear to restart running. I’ve decided to start from scratch with C25K allowing g my body to come to terms with exercise again. Looking forward to interacting with the group. Enjoy. PS. Day 1 week 2 today 👍🏻

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

As a fellow prostate cancer sufferer, I can tell you that running is a great way to build and maintain your fitness.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you Ian. It’s so good to be back running and this C25K is different to the NHS one I did a couple of years ago. Good luck on you PC journey too.
