Heavy legs

I keep coming back to this program as it works!! It also helps with my mental wellbeing. Keeps me on the straight of narrow.

I love running but I appear to get a full ache to my right leg. My legs feel heavy and it becomes restless at night.

I was wondering if anyone was experiencing this. I work as a nurse and on a long day I can walk 5K on this shift. Am I over working my legs?

It would be interesting to learn what your thoughts are.

Keep running 🏃‍♀️

The obvious question is are you doing any post-run stretches?

Yeah, I do. Not all of these stretches on the NHS site. I was doing most of these but there are a couple on here that I wasn’t doing.

Thank you for posting the link 🙏

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow, as recommended in the guide to the plan.

Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.

Thank you for your advice. It is most appreciated.

I’m also running another kilometre as I continue to expand from the C25K. I’m happy with my pace as I grow more in confidence with my running this forum has been supportive.
