In a funk

Please help, I’ve managed to get myself into a funk!

I was really enjoying running until I got to W5R3 and managed to convince myself there was no way I could run for 20min straight and chickened out.

Now I’ve stopped completely and I’m so disappointed with myself :(

Any words of encouragement to get me back on track would be greatly appreciated!

Go today, when it’s cool. Don’t put it off and just get out there. You’ll be more disappointed if you don’t go.

You can do this run, you have trained to build up to this run. You don’t say how long you haven’t now ran for so if it’s over a week or so you could go back and do a previous run or you could just tackle it and try it out.

The worst thing to happen is injury so listen to your body for groans l, go super super slllooooowwww and don’t stop (unless injury).

Good luck, let us know how you get on 😀

Stop worrying, we’ve all been there, today we couldn’t run for 30 minutes and we’ve been running over a year, one thing we found though for the longer runs was start really really slow and we had the energy left in us to get the time, so have another go, go as slow as you can and then slow down a bit more, smile 😊 it helps I promise,

You really can do it, I was "dreading" that run and after reading advice on here about changing to a positive attitude, starting slow and steady I went out and did it.

I would say apart from graduating that was my proudest achievement of the whole thing.

The previous weeks have built you up for this, you my not think so but they have, so you've put in all the preparation so just go and put it to use. Think you can and you will.

Look forward to hearing from you when you've done it.......:-)

Don’t worry, you’ve got this. The fact that you’ve posted on here asking for help means that deep down you know you can do it you just need some support and encouragement and you’re in the right place for that! It’s so hot at the moment so it depends whether you’rea morning person and get out while it’s cooler or how you cope with heat, if not and you run later I would say go for a run from an earlier week or even a brisk walk just to keep you moving, then when it’s cooler in a couple of days give it another go. Read lots of posts on here of people who also thought they couldn’t do it then proved that they could , and remember the saying ‘whether you think you can’t or whether you think you can you are probably right’ and get a mantra going in your head to say ‘I can do this’

Good luck you can do it!

You can do it!

Like lots of others my advice is go slow, remember on here snail pace rules 🐌. Keep an eye on the weather don't try to run in the heat and if you have stopped running for a while repeat a week to build you back up. Also make sure you are really well hydrated the day before your run.

Have fun..

I found that when I really couldnt be bothered I would set a goal of just running for 5 mins. It could be less, as long as it is so small that you think "well of course I could do that..."

Getting out the door is the hardest part, theres a good chance you will do more once you are out, but if not at least you proved to yourself you can choose to do it.

On a side note, let the kms and time come to you. I started running last year took me a month to run a full 4km. Within 9 months I'm now running 60km a week with a 24km run every weekend and it feels awesome
