I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this programme! I hit a wall around week 7 and just couldn’t get past 20 mins. It was a mental rather than a physical hurdle, but with the advice of some on here I just kept persevering - there’s a lot to be said about a good playlist! I downloaded all my favourite songs, old and new, the ones where I know all the words, so I can concentrate on singing (in my head!) rather than thinking about the time and distance.
So, today is my 48th birthday: I went out at 7am with the determination to get this done - 5k in 31 mins!! I couldn’t stop at 30 mins when I was in touching distance of 5k!
I’m soo pleased and want to thank all of you on here. I read the posts every day - they’re all relatable and have been a massive inspiration to me. If you’ve just started out - keep going!! It’s taken me about 12 weeks to get to 30 mins and I’m determined to keep going!!

A great playlist is a must! Mine sounds like a cheesy wedding party but it makes me smile and gives me a boost. Congratulations on the birthday and the 5k 🥳👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
CONGRATS! Sub 10 minute miles is awesome for one mile let alone 3.1, good for you. That achievement must feel wonderful! I'm not quite there yet, I'm having trouble getting past Week 6... I think the jump to 20+ minutes is very unnerving for me. Great to hear of your success! It's helping me stay motivated, thank you.
Thank you! That’s why I posted to be honest as I thought I’m sure there will be others in a similar situation and i always felt encouraged by reading similar posts! Keep at it!
Happy Birthday Syko really well done and glad you are so positive about your running. I'm at the same stage a you in terms of weeks - 2 runs to go but stopped looking forward and now its a bit of a mental thing... I'll do it, just need to get these 2 last runs over a done with then I can try and set some new goals. I'm 52 in August so slightly slower at 5k, but also aiming for a 30min time this year.
I’m sure it will come! I don’t know about you but I’m sure the heat doesn’t help. Perhaps the quicker times will come once the weather cools down? That’s my theory anyway 😊
