Hills?

Morning all, I have now been consolidating my 30 mins for 2 weeks. I’m finding it tough and like others need a few steps to catch my breath usually around the mid-point. My route is largely flat, so I’ve started to ‘explore’ a bit and find hills (even shallow gradual ones) very tough.?im planning a run with a ‘short sharp steep hill’ in the middle does anyone have and advice on technique please?

Hills will really build your strength up and consequently improve your speed but yes, they can feel tough especially if you are not used to them! 😫😉Check out this link to one of the Running Channel videos on YouTube (a great resource of tips and advice and often hilarious antics!). Anna covers the basic technique in this video if I remember rightly. Good luck.🙂

Hills? You just get over them :) That is what I was told anyway... no, seriously, there is a lot of advice on running up, and down hills... for myself, I feel you just have to find the way that works for you, whilst maintaining a safe style:)

There is some advice here, which you may find helpful.

I do consciously try to land very lightly when I run up particularly steep sections, but as most of the ones around me( in every direction ) are long and steady inclines, I just run normally.

Coming downhill is equally important although I have had the odd time when I have been completely daft and really gone for it:)

Hill work is fun and it pays dividends...making you stronger. I have better pace times running up hill than on the flat, I have used them so often :)

Read this if you have chance and fancy a giggle:)

Unless you're really attacking a hill for 'hill work' then the best advice is to shorten your stride and keep you head up.

Thanks all, I’ve read up, and watched the tips, I want to just keep going up the hill if I can. I’ll let you know what happens 😀🏃‍♀️
