How to transition from treadmill to road running?

I’ve just completed W5R1 and managed 5 mins of jogging x3. BUT .. I’ve completed all the runs on a treadmill at home so far as I haven’t had the confidence to step out into the street. I’m feeling like I can now but wondered how best to transition as ‘real’ running is harder than on the treadmill. I was thinking of doing the same run again a couple of times on the road rather than moving onto W5R2. Advice please.

I was a bit nervous when I went out for my first outdoor run in 25 years having done the entire program on a treadmill.

Yes, it felt different, and I was a bit tired at the end, but I soon got used to it.

Just take it nice and easy and you'll be fine.

there's nothing mysterious about it - it's just a harder surface than the treadmill, less forgiving and therefore takes a bit more energy out of you.
