Week 4 disasteršŸ˜©

Anyone else having really bad luck with the C25K at the moment or just me?!

During week 3 I started having issues with my right knee and ended up being unable to run for a few days (not great having knee problems in your 20ā€™s haha!!). Once I felt my knee was better I continued week 3 however my knee started playing up again!šŸ˜© Eventually I managed to complete week 3 and my knee seemed to be on the mend! Anyways, fast forward to today, I started week 4, which I also started with a nice new pair of running shoes! Unfortunately I had to stop after my first 5 minute run as I ended up with horrendous blisters and my calves all seized up to the point that I couldnā€™t even walk! I really am guttedšŸ˜Ÿ

Maybe these are all signs that Iā€™m just not meant to be a runner?šŸ¤£ I will let everything heal and will start the process again by redoing week 3...

Hi, did you get your running shoes from a specialist shop that analysed your gait? This can make a huge difference, I am only just about to start Week 4 but my husband has run for years and this was really significant for him.

You know what I didnā€™t, I was desperately in need for some new running shoes and didnā€™t think nowhere like that would currently be open with whatā€™s going on! I will definitely visit a specialist shop at some point as Iā€™ve been told by friends that it makes such a difference!šŸ˜ƒ

I am sorry about all the problems that you have been having. When you bought your new trainers did you back the same brand and model as your previous pair? Also did you remember to size up by half to 1 from your shoes size?

If you check in the pinned notes, there is a section on self Analysis gait. Shops in UK opening on 15 June you can make an appointment at a Running shop.

Thank you so much for your help! I did size up by a half, starting to wonder that maybe I should have gone a full size up! I have always had issues with blisters so it was expected really.

I changed brands this time as my previous shoes were horrendous at supporting my feet which is probably the cause of my knee issue! These new ones are extremely comfy And supportive and I think will be great once worn in, and covered my heels in blister plasters haha, however I will definitely visit a specialist shop as soon as possible, I think this will my a huge difference!

Have heard of the runner knot for trainers? If you trainers it bringā€™s the back closer to your heel. If search on YouTube for ā€œRunners knotā€ it will show how to use the top to holes with the laces. This will stop the shoes from slipping against your heels.

Sorry to hear this Ellaloux. Well done though you finished week 3! Iā€™ve also just got new shoes a size bigger and itā€™s better having thicker soles than on my old trainers. Also thick socks.

Thank you! I did force myself to do the first 5 minute run but then once I stopped my calves went really tight and seized up. I tried walking it out but by the time the 3 minute run was due I was still hobbling along!

I wish Iā€™d have gone up a size! I went up by a half size but think Iā€™d have been better with going up to the next size. Theyā€™re extremely comfy though, minus the horrible blisters!

Yes mine have got a thicker sole and are very supportive. I did actually shove 2 pairs of socks on hoping that may help, maybe Iā€™ll pop a third pair on next time haha!šŸ¤£

Some weeks are worse than others... the new shoes sound like the source of your problems... are you running on a soft ground?
