Any tips for staying motivated?

Recently I’ve started C25K again for the fourth time in three years. I have a lot of trouble trying to remain motivated, as I’m not in a great place mentally. Has anyone else experienced something like this? And if so, how do you work around it? I’d really appreciate any input you might have x

Hi abbemac. You have made the first step by posting on the forum and asking for help.

You haven't said where you are up to on your c25k journey. I find posting all of my runs on here keeps me motivated and also makes me feel accountable to myself. It is also great to find other people who are starting out at the same time as you and following and supporting each other as you reach similar milestones. The encouragement and advice on the forum is brilliant, from both newbies, administrators, mentors and graduates, so keep checking in and everyone will cheer you along. Good luck 😊🍀

Welcome to the forums. Please take some time to read the guide to this plan, which will answer many questions you have as well as showing you the right way to do this.

Motivation for me came after a few weeks of dragging my butt out of the door. I had lists on the fridge, alarms on my phone and a list of rewards that I got for reaching each part of the plan, but some days it was still tough to get out there.

Running, for many, has had wonderful benefits to mental health, as well as the physical side of things... so keep dragging yourself out there and coming to tell us how it went. You can do this... and somewhere on your journey you’ll see just how awesome you really are. Happy running.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

The best way to stay motivated is to post every run on this forum and we will keep you running.

If you write a list of all the reasons why you want to start running, then cross each one off when they no longer apply, you will keep running.

Why would you not want to be fitter, happier and at a statistically reduced risk of a whole raft of life limiting conditions?

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you all for such quick responses! I will definitely try posting my runs on the forum, as that seems like a good place to start. I really appreciate the advice x
