This might help healthunlocked.com/couchto5... but my recommendations might be totally inappropriate for you.
Your shoes are the most important part of avoiding injury, so don't stint.

Everything he said!
Once you know what shoe is best for you, have a google and see what prices you can get them at... there’s big savings to be had. Your local running store will also have some... last season’s colours are generally discounted, and a couple of brands release so many colour combinations that there’s always a cheap one.

As Iannoda Truffle says (and he's very wise!) your shoes are the single most important bit of kit. Getting advice at a specialist running shop and especially if they do gait analysis, is the way to go if you can afford it. Tell them what your budget is and they can advise you working within that (last year's models, colours not "on trend" etc.). As your running progresses you'll increasingly be pleased you did this. Good luck!

Agree with everyone else. Skimp on t shirts, skimp on tracky bottoms, but don't skimp on shoes. Get some professional advice tailored to you and then see what you can get in a sale or outlet shop ( I say that because my son works near an a Asics outlet). It will still be an outlay for you, but look on it as an incentive to keep running!
Good luck 👍
