Injury strikes

I got to week 2 run 1, completed that and really enjoyed it apart from a pain in left groin and lower back, I then managed to make it worse at work, doesn’t feel as bad now but still not fit to run, any way I can speed recovery and avoid in future?

I’ve bought some better quality trainers as a start

Bad luck. Try ice and heat. Also some gentle stretches and strength work. Lots of warm up before your run too. And stretch after. Hope you are better soon!

Thanks catmo13 so annoying when you can’t do it coz of injury, I’ve got a heat pack ready for today at work 👍

Shoes might help but they're an expensive investment. Check out your running posture: up tall, shoulders down and relaxed, no sinking into your hips, bum tucked under and pelvis tilted forward. Your feet should stay under your body, not striding out in front.

Good luck

Runners need good core strength, so plenty of planks and bridges will help.

Also following the advice in the guide to the plan on minimising impact can make a significant difference. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
