I finished C25k in the summer I started in January 2019 and I couldnt run for a minute without stopping. My father died in the summer just after I completed C25k.Shortly after I entered and completed my first 5k in 30 minutes.I kept training and ran a 10k in edinburgh for Chest heart stroke Scotland and raised 60 pounds.I guess I ran it for him and completed it in 64 minutes. It was a fantastic experience and the finish line was inside murrayfield stadium in edinbuegh.Since he passed away running has really helped and it's gave me a determination and discipline I never had before and it really helps with my mental health as I suffer from depression.Ive decided to keep going and train regularly using the Nike run club app .Ive entered the London landmarks half marathon in March and am starting to train for that today. For anyone starting C25k please keep at it follow the training plan and once you can do a 5k keep going. It did take me longer than 9 weeks to be able to run for half an hour without stopping.ln fact it was probably about six months.I couldn't see myself not running now.

Great running story, we can run 5k but no where near the thirty minute mark

Great story. I’m sorry about your Dad but so pleased you have made it a positive motivator for running and that in turn this helps you mentally. It helps me too, more than medicine or anything, running and this forum is my drug :-)

I was looking at Landmarks yesterday. Am tempted but maybe I’ll give myself more time and do an autumn one...

You must be feeling proud of your achievement this year Nrr and I’m sure your father would be proud too! I started in Feb 2019 and am nowhere near 5k in half an hour - I may never get to that but I really don’t mind! As long as I’m doing it, I’m happy! Good luck with your events next year and happy running!
