Time to come clean....

I have never joined an online forum before but having reached week 5 of the C25k and having been encouraged by the forum over the last three weeks, I thought I would join! I did C25k a few years ago and hated every minute. However, third child later and feeling so unhealthy decided with indescribable reluctance to try C25k again. Trying to work out why I don’t loathe it as much I previously did and why I think I am slowly enjoying it and the forum here has definitely helped - I’ve put into practice so many of the things I’ve read over the passed few weeks. So thank you to all, I have been secretly reading your posts but know I need to come clean! Yesterday, I complete W5d2. Hard to described how chuffed I felt with myself!!

Welcome. This is a most friendly and encouraging forum. Congratulations on reaching week 5 and enjoying it. Happy running

It’s funny, I didn’t tell anyone apart from hubby that I was going to start the programme. I was scared of failing! So online forum is a great way to get support behind-the-scenes. As my confidence grows through, I’m happier telling others. So I agree, a very supportive forum.

👋 Welcome to the forum & 👍done on getting to week 5:2 So pleased to hear you are enjoying C25K a little more now. When you start to feel chuffed with your achievement the bug bites & you look forward to the next one 🤣 Each run & rest day prepares you for the next one. Lots of water on run & rest days & keeping the runs nice and slow🐌 is the best way to make progress through the longer runs coming up. (I added fun rewards for completing a week too... new bits of running gear, new book to read etc🤣)

Keep posting & we will encourage you onwards & upwards to a fabulous new you!! 🎈

Thank you for your kind message. I love reading - I like your idea about a new book as a reward. Great tip!

I have never been on any forum either or any social media. But on here is amazing to run along side c25k.

Congratulations on reaching wk5 already. 🤗🤗

I totally agree - I don’t do social media either hence my reluctance for this. But I taken on so many things that I’ve read that have really helped. And thank you for your post, I’m quite surprised as to how encouraging it is to have people you don’t know encourage you! That make sense?!

Because everyone on here all started their running journey with c25k and they know exactly what it's like to run and have the support to do so😊

Fantastic, that’s great progress! I think maybe sometimes you just have to try something at the right time for you, and it all falls into place in a way that it wouldn’t at a different time in your life. Enjoy the coming weeks!

Read your message a while ago and have been mulling that over. Interesting viewpoint and hadn’t thought of that. Might have to agree with you!

Running gives me time to think! 🤣

Well done for coming out of the running closet! I lurked for a while before posting too, now I am always on here, nattering about my runs. Sounds like you are doing brilliantly and feeling really positive this time round. Sometimes things just click and feel right! Keep posting, we'll all be cheering you on. ☺

Goodness, what a lovely post. Thank you so much. I think I will actually faint with shock if I graduate. I’d love to be able to do a Parkrun without actually dying. If I survived AND enjoyed it.... I can hardly even imagine that ☹️... but working towards it 🙂.

Yay well done. I've always hated running in the past. Never understood the point. And I have to say, it's only in week 5 that I'm starting to enjoy it. But I am loving this program. Constant little achievements and some real structure.

Must admit though, I think I'd still struggle without the advice on this forum. My wife is doing it too and we're great at motivating each other, but the wealth of knowledge and experience from people here is awesome

Sorry I was replying earlier but it keeps refreshing as I’m nearly ready to send - flippin phone!! I’m at w7and tomorrow will be r2 my last run was fantastic my attitude from getting up was really positive I’m not sure what this running malarkey has done to me! You will have good, bad and fantastic runs just stick at it I’ve found it really addictive and the people on here are amazing they will chat to you about anything and everything not just running so if you want a chat or a kick up the back side just find me! Good luck for your next run

That made me laugh - a kick up the backside! A philosophy that I totally agree with and think is generally lacking in society! Really appreciate your words and find them really encouraging. All the best for w7r2.
