Well following comments from my last post where I didn't manage to complete a 30 minute run for the 3rd time on the trot I changed a lot of things and hey presto not only did I manage it but my nemesis, my calves, hardly hurt at all.
To start with I went to "Runners Needs" and had a new gait analysis which showed bad over-pronation in a neutral shoe, which incidentally my Asics Nimbus shoe recommended by Decathlon are, say no more they didn't even video my running but just looked at normal speed and recommended their most expensive shoe. After trying most of the shops structured shoes on to see which one worked with my wide flat feet and bunions we decided on the Asics Gel Kayano and a proper pair of blister reducing running socks. I also left with a couple more calf exercises to do before and after running to help make sure they are as ready as they can be, oh and a big hole in my wallet.
Next I turned the pace back down to 6.5 Km/h, whilst I still intent going much faster getting a successful 30 minute run in was and is more important. Next I then found how to put the TV screen into full screen mode so you can't see the stop watch slowly ticking along all of the time.
I'm not sure if one or all of these changes made the difference or the fact that I was more motivated and not ill but I achieved 30 minutes with the only slight problem being that the new shoes have a small arch support that started my arches hurting after about 20 minutes but nothing I couldn't cope with and something I suffer from even if I just stand for an hour, maybe I should have been looking for a foot transplant instead of new shoes !!
