I heard when you run, heart rate should not cross 220 - "your age", is this true ? at end of my run I always crossing it by 10 to 15 ?
220 - 47 = 173 but I reach 185 mostly end of the run
Should I run slow ?

That estimation formula for max. heartrate is only that ... an estimation. For any given individual it can vary considerably.
By definition you cannot exceed your max heartrate because, well, it's your max heartrate! You'll know when you're getting uncomfortably close to it because you'll ... erm, feel uncomfortable.
Unless you have some known heart defect, there's no reason you should dial back your effort. You're the same age as me and I generally get up to around 180.
Yep, as said above that calculation is flawed. So long as you are not feeling uncomfortable in your chest, or collapsing over the line or pushing yourself like crazy you should be just fine. I often go as high as 190 and I have not exploded yet 😉
Might be worth casting your eye over the c25k guide though just to inform yourself fully.
Don't worry according to the 220 minus your age mine should be 176 but at parkrun it's 185-186. As long as you don't feel ill and are not going on a hard run all the time you'll be fine . 😊😊
The formula you quote gives an average figure for maximum heart rate, which may not be accurate for you. For general recreational running it is not advisable to hit your maximum heart rate on a regular basis.
If you felt quite well and comfortable, during and after your run, then you are probably OK pushing that high.
You have to ascertain your true maximum heart rate for this to be helpful information.
We recommend that when you run C25k that you run at a pace at which you can speak clear ungasping sentences as you run. This will keep your heart rate in a safe zone.
I have never tracked my heart rate (I’m 60 & quite new to running). - I just listen to my body, if it’s unhappy I slow down. 😄
I worried about max heart rate when i first started c25k as mine peaked way above at 186 so i spoke to my daughter who is a pharmacist and works in a hospital, she explained that it’s ok to peak higher but not ok to sustain higher
The longer we have been running the lower my heart rate peaks and it sits around 150 at its highest which is nicely below the maximum
I’d assume if i pushed myself for longer it would go higher
As others have said it’s more about how you feel and if you can say a sentence
Not only is the formula inaccurate but if the measurement is from a wrist worn device then it’s not that accurate either. Get to know what is normal for you so that you’ll recognise if something is way beyond that but don’t fret about a number if you’re feeling comfortable when you run.
