Struggling with treadmill!

Morning! Graduated a while ago and have been consolidating runs doing 5k 3 times a week, usually before work which means an early start but sets me up for day with mixture of road running, paths and trails through a water park nearby! Getting a bit dark now in morning so went to gym but wow struggled so much on treadmill! I know I can do 5k but very nearly stopped, ended up doing 4k,went on bike for few miles and then finished off the last 1k!bit disheartened but think might be boredom related! Any tips?

After running outside it can be very boring on a treadmill, you need to give your mind something to do, complex maths is a good one, anything but time and distance.

I normally pick a spot on the wall/window/mirror, focus on my breathing and then start working my way through any maths, etc, that I throw at myself.

Aha, it had a little TV stand on it so had telly on but kept my eyes on distance and I suppose I was counting down, I have my little route when I go out that is just over 5k so when I've done route I know I'm finished, I think maybe I was clock watching...

I've just bought a treadmill for home, it has a tablet stand, I intend to watch tv on it as it is awfully dull! 👍🏻😁

Put a towel over that clock ! It's the only way I manage. I look occasionally when I use the towel to wipe my slightly glowing face (ok...when it's dripping with sweat lol) thrn I cover it up again.

I use maths, easy and hard, sing, try and remember my classmates from various years of school...anything to distract.

For what it's worth, I did all my c25k and b2 10k on a treadmill and initially struggled outside but now go regularly outside. Ran on a treadmill on Tuesday night and nearly fell off 😂. I was all over the place. The running is different so I struggled.

I use a treadmill at home I cover the time up so I’m not tempted to keep looking. I did my 1st 30 min run this morning without our using the app and was I bit worried I would give up but I set my self little goals like only look at time after I’ve ran for 2 k an so on

People clearly do adapt but you might also think about ways to do some runs outside - routes with better lighting, perhaps, or try a head torch. Our gym does “virtual runs” on screen & you can choose places around the world, but I can’t say I’ve ever learned to love it except when there is ice outside!
