Calf strain?

I seem to have strained something. It’s right at the top of my calf on the outside almost behind my knee! It came on over a few days and decided to really hurt out on a run in the middle of a trailway which meant I had to limp all the way home 😠

I’m wondering if this is still classed as a calf strain? It’s been a week now and although less painful, it’s still lurking in there. Gutted that I missed my 6th parkrun ☹️

I am decidedly not an expert, but yes I expect so, and if it’s still hurting after a week I’d suggest you go to see a doctor.

And once you’re fixed, maybe some extra stretching could be added to your routine.

As with @Maddee_6333 I’m no expert, but stop running for now (maybe a gentle swim to maintain fitness?). Use the RICE method (rest ice compression elevation) which might help. I have found myself an excellent sports physio to whom I can take my muscular niggles for sports massage (which hurts and helps!), and he proscribes exercises for strengthening (I have a niggling Achilles). This is not the end: injury is s part of being a runner. It’s how you deal with it that makes you a running ninja. Best of luck!
