Advise please!! Am I worrying to much about distance ๐Ÿค”

Iโ€™ve finished week 8 so chuffed with myself. I honest would not of got this far without this fantastic forum and the encouragement/positivity on here.

My question is I have completed w8 BUT I only ran 3.73km.. donโ€™t get me wrong Iโ€™m super excited to have achieved this, but w9 is only another 2 minutes of running. I am no way going to be running 5k by the end of this week..what can I do to increase my speed and will I still graduate if I havenโ€™t got to 5k ??? Would really appreciate your Advise please ๐Ÿ˜Š

Forget about 5K. This C25K plan is all about getting you running for 30 minutes without stopping. I was running for 2 years before I could run 5K in 30 minutes. It is amazing to be able to run for 5K no matter how long it takes you. Donโ€™t worry yet about distance.

Thank you for your reply. That has made me feel better and taken the pressure off ๐Ÿ˜ฐ I think it will probably be about the same time for me to reach the 5k lol... but I will plod on slowly ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done you ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sorry for late reply been to my dads.

The aim of the program is to run for 30 minutes 3 times in one week.

C25K is a very catchy title but how can a program that appeals to all ages, all genders and all ability have a distance target???

C2r430m3xi1w is more accurate, but less memorable.

You are doing great, and will graduate next week. Forget all about distance and concentrate just on time.

Don't worry about 5k . Although the plan says c25k as long as you're completing each run that's all thats asked of you. So when you finish w9 3x 30 minute runs you've graduated . Good luck ๐Ÿ˜Š

Don't worry about the distance, just do the time.

Many don't reach 5k on graduation and many never reach 5k in 30 mins.

Have you not read the pinned post how to do c25k? It explains it there, as well as a lot of other stuff, essential reading for newbies.

You're doing great keep up the good work..

Got it!! Thank you. I have read some bits of post... but.. I'm dyslexic lol so I start to read and then it gets complicated because I get in a muddle with words and to much writing lol.. I'm ok on short paragraphs ๐Ÿ™ˆ Them long post are just to much for me!!

Thank you agIn for the positivity ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Ok, I understand, yes, there's a lot to read, I have to keep going over stuff to absorb it properly, ask away if you need to know anything else, no matter how silly it may seem.

Graduations only around the corner, you're doing great!๐Ÿ˜Š

I definitely won't reach 5km by the end of W9. I've signed up for a 5km run at the end of September and I hope I'll be able to do the distance but I doubt I'll do it in 30mins. Well done us; we're running for 30 minutes. That's a massive achievement. :) x

I graduated in May I think, having started c25k in Feb!!!! I carried on doing the runs gradually trying to increase the distance. I have now done 5 parkrun with a PB of 37:33. If I can get to 30 mins Iโ€™ll be over the moon. Just relax and revel in what youโ€™ve already achieved. X

Yes, youโ€™re worrying too much about distance, and also then pace... neither of these two stats will change your life, 30 minutes will. I believe thatโ€™s why the C25K app doesnโ€™t log these things.

Slower running will raise your aerobic fitness & develop your leg muscles sooner and better than fast running.

Before you started this plan, how happy would you have been to be able to run for 30 minutes? When you were inactive what time would you see yourself running 5k in? If your first 5k run takes you 90 minutes (it wonโ€™t at your pace) will it be any less distance? Would it be less of an achievement?

Youโ€™re here to get to 30 minute long cardio workouts, which with the brisk walking youโ€™ve already achieved. All that matters now is upping that to 30 minutes of running. These are the things that will change your life and extend your life expectancy... pace and distance are things you can work on in a couple of months from now, if youโ€™re so inclined.

Is this lady any less of an inspiration because she hasnโ€™t managed a 30 minute 5k yet? runnersworld.com/runners-st...

Youโ€™re doing great... relax, donโ€™t pressure yourself with pace, and get ready to celebrate the huge achievement of graduating this plan.

Well done - just keep going and doing the best you can

Itโ€™s not about how far or what time

Itโ€™s about how you feel and what you achieve

Only you know and feel that

Your not in a race - but a lifestyle change - to make you healthier fitter and happier about yourself

Like you are now!

Youโ€™ve already achieved more than you probably thought you would - so keep going and keep it up

Only you know how you felt - and how you feel now

It was going ok - but due to personal commitments - Iโ€™ve not really had time last week ( my father poorly in hospital)

So hopefully next week Iโ€™ll get back on track as I want to and I can actually say I missed it

Still got a way to go though - but like everyone else - Iโ€™ll do it

Slow but sure xx

Sorry to hear about your dad.. wishing him a speedy recovery. I am back and forth to London too with my dad he has Parkinsonโ€™s. Itโ€™s difficult sometimes to stick to schedule, It is funny how you do miss it when you canโ€™t do it ๐Ÿคฃ

Slow but sure is the way definitely!

Keep us updated ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

Do you remember the first time you were told to run for a full 5 minutes? I can remember being so scared. I felt exactly the same as you. Been graduated 2 weeks now and Iโ€™m still not there distance wise. But have faith it will come and enjoy your last week ๐Ÿ˜˜
