Week 5 Run 3 injury

I have had a sore calf muscle for few weeks especially if I run outside rather than a tread mill. Today I attempted to run for 20 minutes non stop as per program and had to pull up after 18minutes ☹️ The pain in my calf was to much to continue. I appreciate this now means I will have to halt program until I recover from this injury, but at what week stage should I start again with? Any suggestions regarding quickest way to recover from calf muscle injury?

Sorry about your injury Jcoope, wait until it has completely healed, I don't think that run 3 of week 5 is the best run to restart, I think you should restart at run 1 of week 5.

Rest... and rest more.. calf injury is really tricky.. so follow the guidelines for injury in the FAQ post..

Make sure it feels fully healed and then just try a gentle run...no distance or time.. just see how it feels...

Maybe some gentle exercise too..

If there is pain then stop and go and get it checked out... a sports physio will be the best bet. Hopefully you will be fine and not reach this point!

I am over cautious because having had a minor calf tear.. I was out of the runs for some time:) x
