It’s that time of week... if you’re parkrunning in the morning go put a barcode in you shoe, another in the car if you’re driving, one on the back of the front door... whatever it takes. Don’t forget your barcodes folks and have a great run... sadly I won’t be running in the morning, but I’ll be thinking of you all.
Barcodes!: It’s that time of week... if you’re... - Couch to 5K
Barcodes!
Sadly I won't be at a parkrun tomorrow either, it's been cancelled because of a event in the same park, its one of those 'defend Britain events' from the army, anyway I am not sitting on the couch, I am going to run a 7K along all of what I call"The ButtercupKid 5K trail", it will mean that I will be running on some of it twice to make up the 7K, I will be running it around 7.45am.
Have a great 7 there my friend, I’ll be thinking of you too... well, from 8 I will!
Last Sunday I ran 6K, this weekend, tomorrow its 7K using that metromone I installed, I had it at 162 steps a minute and did not feel too tired after the run, tomorrow it will also be at 162.
My last run was 156 with a last mile at 166... I managed to control it for once 🤣
update:- Saturday 3/8
Just come back from running that 7K I promised everyone here as I was going to run it as I was not at a parkrun this morning, the 7K went fine, split 5K time was 36.01 and the 7K was completed in a time of 50.54, according to Mapmyrun I burned 528 calories and my average pace was 07:18 min/km.
Nice times there... I aim for 36 at the 5k a lot, and going off your average pace it was a good even run, which is also where I aim to be on my long run. Nice job all round and that calorie burn means a nice bit of indulgence is available for required later!
I think having that metronome app helps with the pace, it was again at 162 beats/steps a minute, I won't be taking it to Parkrun next Saturday, I feel it restricts me from going faster or slower, so as they say in running terms, run naked, no tech with me next week.
I ran pretty even 155s last run and upped it by 10 in the last mile... I wasn’t on the metronome, but I have been using one on my tempo runs and it’s making all of my runs much smoother cadence wise.
I’m not going to be at parkrun too much either... my running plan isn’t serving up many 2.75-3mile runs now and as I head towards the HM there’s going to be none of them... think I’ll do some volunteering and look forward to parkruns over the winter when I’m between plans.
No park run for me either. But debating if I can squeeze in a quick loop run before we leave for Portsmouth 😁
I think I already know the answer to that.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
Maybe... but it might wind hubby up more if you go for one later while he’s unpacking 🤣
And put your tech stuff on charge!! 😊☺️😉❤️
Well, I am off in a mo to try my first Parkrun since the hamstring in June. Just checking the barcodes are all charged, locked and loaded...
I finished W9R3 a while ago and have been repeating the run 2 or 3 times a week since. I am thinking of doing a parkrun, but now curious about barcodes you mention. What are they and do I need to get them before I pitch up at the park?
When you register with parkrun, in your profile you’ll see a link to your barcodes. You need to either print some off, or buy a product with it on from the store there, and take at least one with you. When you finish the run they need to scan that and then a token you are given when you finish, and this gives you a time in the results and a credit towards the free running tips, the first of which you’ll get after 50 parkruns.
Has anyone got a tattoo of their parkrun barcode? That would be one way to make sure you don't forget it! 😁
Now if only I'd been doing a parkrun today, this reminder would have been just perfect for me! 😂😂😂
I was looking at the results of Drumpelliier Park run just as a matter of interest Arthur, could not help noticing your name, then saw your home club, ahh I thought, that's our Arthur G from Arbroath who posts a lot of reports here on C25K.
While you were at Drumpelliier parkrun I was at Dunfermline running a PB of 32.19. I was thinking about going to Drumpelliier sometime in the future, it is much nearer to where I live, 6 miles by road, not the 26 miles I have to go to Dunfermline, on the other hand, I don't know Drumpelliier at all, I have been going walks at Pittencrieff Park for about 9 years and know that park like the back of my hand as they say, I'm also getting to know a lot of people there as well, yesterday I was actually speaking to a runner during the 🏃 😊 run
On the keyring, also useful if you lose your keys because it has a contact number on it.
I also have one in my phone.
So I always have an emergency contact with me.
