Going back a bit...

So, I've had a really busy few weeks with gigs, concerts and a major violin exam (fingers crossed!!!). I was already struggling with the jump from 20min to 25min (I blame the hills) and it's been really hot as well. But the holidays start and I'm determined to do a proper 5k before September - and to get around the local reservoir which is about 3km but has hills.

Even 20min seemed daunting this morning, so I went back to week 6 run 2 and did the two 10min slots on a nice flat route. Easy peasy. I'm sure I won't have lost much fitness but I have lost some mojo and mental stamina so this was probably a good call! Next will be a solid 20min and then maybe I'll have to build up to 25min more incrementally... or maybe not... or maybe I'll just keep doing intervals forever (I could probably do 10min three or four times, but the thought of 30min with no walking...!).

I am exactly where you are. I kept telling myself that I wasn't ready to get back into week 7 so I did week 6 run 2 a couple of times. I finally psyched myself up and did week 7 run 1 yesterday. I initially stopped due to being defeated my week 8 run 1 - It was an extremely hot day and I did not hydrate properly. Then my dog (aka running partner) got sick and it was all down hill from there. But I am back and ready! I am going to stay on the treadmill until I complete the program. I live in Southern Louisiana, USA and we are smack dab in the middle of summer here.

Oh my gosh I've experienced Louisiana summer - I remember a high of 114 and 100% humidity! We're hot enough here in sunny Jersey (the original one not the new one)

What a beautiful photo. We all think we could never run for 30 minutes me included but it is possible with c25k . Good luck 😊
