All these impossible things

Oldfloss recently invited C25K graduates to report back experiences to those on the program.

A year ago I tried a little running during my dog walks to see if I could actually run. 100 paces was the best I could manage. I was 62 and borderline obese.

In September I discovered the C25K program and thought 1 minute’s running was impossible. Then 2,5,10 and so on up to graduation in December. Never easy, often disheartening. I too chose routes where the fewest people might see me.

What else remained impossible? A Parkrun? 12 done now. 10 km? 2 under my belt.

So what remains impossible now? A half marathon? A full marathon? We’ll see. At my age and size actually getting to 5km in 30 minutes would be good!

So VRBs. Keep on keepin’ on. Don’t worry about what you look like or discouraging words from friends and family (but do listen to your doctor!)

Impossible is a word that only The Voices in your head use. Good luck!!

Good to share these.

You have done so well, and it's great to look back and remember how we felt on run one, I find that particularly useful when I think I have just had a bad run!🤩

I have had fairly good encouragement from my family and friends who have seen me running, I did mention my running to someone, I had the impression that she thought I was bragging on being able to run at all, however, she also appreciates that running as well as walking and cycling are good healthy activities

I started running as a challenge to myself, rather than lose weight as I am of normal weight, BMI and height for my age, I have cycled, gone long walks for over 40 years but only started running, about 18 months ago.
