Coming to C25K very late in the day BUT I’m here and I want to use this programme to help me lose some weight and generally get back into shape. I’ve been concerned about raising my heart rate too far as I now live with a subcutaneous defibrillator. My first week of C25K is completed and I’ve done run 1 of week 2. I’m trying to understand how I can differentiate between the heart rate rise being due to my lack of fitness or my condition. Anyone else out there in a similar situation? Thanks.

Well done for completing the first week of c25k, assuming you have permission to do the programme from your doctor.
C25K isn't a weight loss programme, some lose weight some don't, losing weight comes more when running consistently for 30 mins 3 times a week, but still great for cardiovascular.
Normally the heart rate will decrease as you get fitter (and breathing should also get easier as you go on) and ticker gets stronger, but I'm no expert especially with defibrillator's and how that would be affected, so best to ask your cardiologist that one.

Great for getting started, have you asked your doctor if it is ok for you to run if so , good. Also your heart rate will increase as you run more just go slow and try to enjoy it good luck 😊😊
