How to stop running flat footed?

Hi, not posted before but I’ve been doing C25K for the last 2 weeks and I completed W2R3 this morning. In conversation with my a trainer at my gym they said I run very flat footed and I can feel that affecting my runs already and know it’ll only get worse as the time increases in later weeks. Does anyone have any techniques, tips, gadgets etc that I can use to overcome this?

Hi, look at the video for Japanese Slow Running. I am flat footed and I found this running style really helped. It stopped me stomping along and reduced the strain on my heels which in turn reduced the strain on my hip and back.

Go to a proper running shop and ask them for some advice and a gait analysis. Usually they do this if you are buying new running shoes but if you pop in when they are quiet they might help.

Thanks for all your help guys. Went along to RunnersNeed today and found out my feet were overpronating so they set me up with some much better shoes. Hopefully the problems will cease now and I can push on into the future with fewer issues.
