Achey knees after w2r1 is this normal?

Hi

So I have done w2r1 yesterday, it was great. I am leaving a rest day in between runs so I am planning on doing w2r2 tomorrow morning but my knees are feeling pretty achey so I wondered if this is normal or whether I should leave an extra rest day before my second run of week 2. Knees are not painful just achey but I am thinking that this is to be expected?

My knees have been like that from day one. Just running through it but not sure if it’s the right thing to do. On W3R2

Hi LAJ392, I'm glad you enjoyed your w2r1 run 🙂 please do continue to leave rest days between all runs, but if you wanted to do some strength exercises between runs you could do, it might help with your knees. If you are concerned about whether or not the next run is going to worsen your knees then yeah, taking another day's rest is no problem at all - C25K has no time limits.

Maybe delay by a day your next run and make sure you warm up properly - check out runnersworld.com/beginner/a...

If you're still concerned after W2R2 and you've warmed up and cooled down/ stretched right, maybe go ask a Dr or pharmacist for more help.

Hi, I did my w3r1 tonight, I got into my first run and the side of my right knee ached, I kept going and have just realised that it went once I got into my run. It could be your shoes that are a problem are they worn?

Having an extra rest day should help, but please follow the advice in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... on minimising impact, stretching after every run and knee strengthening exercises.

This is quite normal, but for your own sake, keep the impact as low as possible.
