To the point where I missed runs because if it wasn’t my eyes streaming, I was sneezing, blowing my nose every few steps or coughing. But having finally got my cough more or less under control, I drove across the county to go on a gentle Canicross run this morning. I’d taken 2 decongestant tablets, an antihistamine, AND used a nasal spray before I set off, and thought I was all set. So imagine how I felt when we got to this field, knowing that the main reason my hay fever is currently as bad as it is, is because 75% of the arable fields round here are full of oil seed rape.
Luckily it was only that one field and the views and the company! were well worth it.
It was a lovely way to start the weekend. Though I am seriously thinking I need to buy shares in Tena 🤫

Lovely photo of those yellow arable fields full of oil seed rape, looks pretty but not so good for people who have streaming eyes and noses, where I live in Central Scotland there a few of those fields as well but because of the climate and soil, the further east you go, the more likely you will see them, to the west there are hardly any at all.
And their flower heads are currently shoulder height! It’s like they have a direct line to our noses!! 🤧
Next year there won’t be as much in the fields very local to me - hooray for crop rotation - but some of the routes I’m using now to avoid it will, of course, be no go areas instead.
Well done you..! It has been truly dreadful...I managed to get out today, too for the first time in 12 days! I have a cough too this year..my trigger is tree pollen..!!
I am so glad that you got a decent run in...just take care...xx
I used to have a tree pollen problem much earlier in the year as a rule, but the last couple of years I haven’t noticed the trees causing me problems, while flower pollen setting me off has got much worse!
Take care of yourself too Floss. Well done for getting out there.
