Aching legs!

I’ve tried to do this before but I found that my legs were killing me after my first run which meant I couldn’t do my second a couple days later. I’ve just run the first run and worried the same will happen again - i’ve done loads of stretching! Did this happen to anyone else / how did you get over it??

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on minimising impact and stretching after every run, which will help.

Aches disappear in time as you get stronger..........for me it was around about W5...........it comes with the territory, I am afraid.

Enjoy your journey.

You don't need to run C25K training program the exact way as it says on the training program, if you feel uncomfortable after the first run anywhere on your body, especially the legs, give yourself a few days off running until the legs feel less sore. The day before you run drink plenty of water and once you start running run 2 of week 1, run a little slower than you ran run 1 of week 1. 😊 🏃

Hiya and welcome 🙂

how was your fitness before you started C25K? Are you able to walk briskly for 30 minutes without issue? If not it may be worth doing a 30 min walk for a few days before you progress with the running.

If not it could well be you were going too fast. That's an easy fix ;) embrace your inner snail 🐌

Or being dehydrated causes aching legs. Take sips of water throughout the day, every day, rather than down a glass in one go.

Make sure you read the pinned post for newbies. It's full of really useful stuff 😊

Good luck with the program. It really is worth persevering with it. 👍
