Just done a brisk walk, as I've been sitting all day in conference. My average pace over 3k was 9:51 per kilometre. When I run I only manage 9:19 at best. Must be very slow runner. Guessing that 30 mins parkrun is completely unrealistic. W3 R3 tomorrow morning, must out in bit more effort!!
Very speedy walk: Just done a brisk walk, as I... - Couch to 5K
Very speedy walk

Don’t worry. You’re doing fine. It really is possible to walk faster than you run. But the aim here is to run 30mins non stop - 5k is a nice bonus at the end of c25k for the few rather than the many. Most of us build up to a non-stop 30min 5k after graduation. For now concentrate on the programme, one run at a time, without pushing yourself too much - you still need to breathe 😀
Enjoy the programme. There’s a whole new world waiting for you once you’ve graduated.
that's really quick - I thought I was walking at an OK pace last year when I was fitter, but I just checked my mapmywalk stats and it was pathetic... at between 12 and 15 mins per km (depending on terrain)... so you are going really well. I've only just started week 2 on this running thing... and I have NEVER, literally NEVER run before! I am completely sure that my running-shuffle is way slower than my normal walking pace, and I'm still so relieved to walk after each run that it really isn't very 'brisk' at all... so when I get my mapmywalk/run app out eventually I would be really chuffed to get anything under 10mins/km - so grin and be happy - you are doing great!

When you walk briskly you could keep going for a lot longer than you would running that's why your running is slower you are asking your body to perform a lot more 😊

Ok, that makes sense. Though after 32 mins brisk walk I was flagging somewhat. Looked at my earlier runs from week 1, they were definitely slower than my walking speed. Must be doing something right. Really not looking forward to tomorrow, has to be done at 7 am before orchestra/trampolining/library club.
