Finally got out there... if anyone sees the missing bits of my brass monkey please give me a shout. Only went for a little mile job to get back in the swing... I may just be defrosted in time for Sunday. I think the time has come to don the running tights 😂😱
To anyone who completed dry January last month, you’re welcome! Yes, I took several for the team and tried to keep breweries and vineyards open! Bloody well done though guys.
Now for REDFebuary... day one ✅
Happy running
PS title is in northern... and from a song by the Fivepenny Piece who were briefly famous in the late 70s, and still make me laugh today.

Delighted to have you back - canny good news, as my Geordie husband would say. And since when was Yorkshire northern ? There’s an awful lot of Britain between it and the Pole 😂
Technically it’s lanky... subtle differences though. That said, Lancashire is north... Yorkshire is next to it, so that makes it also north! Of course, my bit of Derbyshire is between the two, but it’s all midlands. I used to class everything south of Sandbach as “the south” 😂
I dunno where region names come from... the west is very south too!
Ooh please don’t do that! I’m in Sheffield, South Yorkshire n we very much consider ourselves northern. You’d get yourself in bother coming here n claiming any different 😂😂
I'm sorry, but being from Yorkshire (god's own country) we have what is known as 'our big coats' that we put on when it's cewd. None of this preparing and panic buying of a hundred loaves of bread and a thousand gallons of milk. (This is the essence of being northern, that we don't do this, like southerners do...) We are Yorkshiremen. We are prepared for the worst, at all times. And as they say, we ARE Yorkshire. Wherever we are is Yorkshire.
Do they have any? Never struggled to get a ticket to that away game 😂. I think they should be forced to change name too as they’ve never played in Chelsea.
You think? I was shorts and t-shirt until very recently... think I’ve done 3 runs with sleeves and a t-over it... I was a bit nesh and went straight to two layers!
Snow had gone today. Not had much here... just enough to form ice and it’s almost all gone. I remember getting very strange looks in Portsmouth with my winter attire 😂
I'm too young to remember the tune or artist but I'm set to look it up now!
I must be feeble if you're only just reaching for the layers 😂 I've been out in thermals for the last week and a bit and was layering up before then!
That said though I got stuck down with a head cold on Wednesday evening after having completed W3R3 but I still donned the gear and got back out there today. I'm keeping up with the hill runs and starting to feel rather proud of myself.
I really enjoy reading your posts. Keep them coming!
You’re doing great. It was perfect running temperatures here for most of the month... then suddenly it’s winter! Must remember shorts over tights though.
Not been to Brazil yet... 1978 World Cup... I was 6 and confused as United weren’t playing... my grandad told me to watch the guys in the yellow shirts and blue tops... supported them ever since, which was strange as 20 years later the rest of the United fans started chanting “Argentina” something I could never do!
I’d love to run the alps.... or do I mean in the alps... time will tell.
That makes sense, I can see why you would be a fan - if Grandad says they're good it must be true! Maybe it's worth a trip for the love, then you can add that stamp to your passport collection x
My mate went once... he was very excited... didn’t care how far he had to travel on the weekend he was going to see a game. They play 2 leagues a year... with a very short gap between them, and his manager managed to send him there over the one weekend where there wasn’t a game 😂
To see Brazil play a home game now I just have to go to London... I have seen them away to Germany... early 98, they got off a plane to freezing conditions, walked around and beat Germany 1-0
I was multilingual as a kid... all English but lived in Cheshire, family Lancashire and Yorkshire stock (mixed marriage!) with a dash of Irish, school in Manchester, and I spent a lot of time in Cumbria 😂
My accent got mashed as I went on tour, Cambridge, Portsmouth, Mainz, Winchester, Austin, Birmingham, San Jose (California), back to Winchester and then I escaped!
I believe Men In Tights is totally legitimate given the danger to the danglies of the cold weather, but you didn't mention sleeves. I've been in long leggings from day 1 but am still going sleeveless (after the first 5 minutes). Where do you stand on arms, so to speak?
Ha way canny lad (Geordie accent) it’s way too cold to be running in this weather (tights or no tights 😂😂) you must be a runner!! Take care out there especially underfoot 👍🏻
Should think your brass monkey’s long gone in this weather but good on you for running ❄️😊
Off to warmer climes tomorrow but decided against packing the running gear- decided to have a week off and hopefully come back refreshed and raring to go!
Ah. I tried saying it out loud too .... still couldn’t get it 😀. Hope you are very toasty now. I have wimped out all week. Can’t face the cold. Can’t face the treadmill.
I try that with welsh... never goes well 😂. Mrs UNM is welsh and when we visit family I’m very careful which pub I go to, as it’s hard to get a taxi from somewhere you can’t pronounce! Of course next time we go I shall run there!
I sat most of the week out... I’m not treadmill friendly either.
It is very beautiful to listen to... apart from when my wife speaks welsh in front of me it means one of two things. I’m either in trouble, or whatever she’s planning is going to be very expensive.
