Aches

Hi, just finished week 2. I'm doing ok but getting loads of aches from my runs. The back of my calves are horrid, rock hard and aching. I almost had to stop running today because of them. I've struggled with stairs on my rest days as my legs are so sore. My hips are also aching after runs, feel stiff after. This was especially bad after trying to run on a slippery icy evening, maybe trying not to fall was making me tense up?

Any tips for helping with this? I don't want it to become an excuse not to run!

Are you doing stretches after the cool down section? I did W1, R1 yesterday n did the stretches on the link in the FAQ n today I only have a few twinges in my thighs when I expected to be stiff and more sore

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Make sure you stretch after every run, as linked to in the guide above.........it really helps.

Enjoy your journey

Had flicked through the guide but not really really read it properly... Live and learn!

Thanks, I'll give the stretches a go. Is it worth doing the ones linked before running as well?

I very rarely, (perhaps if it is very cold,) do dynamic stretching before a run.
