Week 5 and distance

Hello everybody... Started week 5 today... Not too bad except I'm a little concerned I'm not covering a correct amount of distance in the time. Given that it's a 'light' jog... I dont see me covering 5k in the time on the app...ive measured where I need to go and am WAY off it at the moment. I'm covering approx 2.8km at the moment. Thoughts?

You are doing just fine 👍

Well done for getting to wk5

There's alot of posts on here about 5K, and around 90% don't get there by Wk9.

At the end of the day it's about running for 30 mins, 3x, a week.... And that you will achieve 👍💪🙌

The more experienced on here will give you better advice than I can.

But you are doing great 👍

Enjoy Wk 5, its one of the best x

Hi, well done on getting to week 5. I just completed W5R3 yesterday and the feeling of achievement is overwhelming. Looking at weeks 6 onwards, it seems you are taking a step backwards not forwards, but it is all consolidation and getting you able to extend that duration little by little. I have often wondered if I will fail at any step, but it doesn't matter. The speed of the run is secondary to the mental and physical achievement of doing it regardless of the distance covered. I had thought by now I would have some kind of injury but it is not the case, despite not running or jogging since I were 15 years old (nearly 50 years ago!). The human body is a remarkable machine and this program has been very well thought through and is achievable for most people. Think about it like a series of exams and to date you have just scored 100% on every activity since W1R1. Even if you don't finish any W5 activities, you are still in the high 90s of achievement. Keep it going.

There is no set distance to cover at any stage of the plan.

5k in 30 minutes is aspirational and most graduates from this forum do not achieve that at graduation..........a very large proportion never do.

Stick to the easy conversational pace, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and you will be fine.......but may not cover 5k in Week 9..........

Graduation requirements are that you follow the plan and complete three thirty minute runs.........there is no distance requirement.

Perfect! Slow is best. People looking at and chasing the stats too early tend to spend lots of time injured... that’s why the C25K app doesn’t log distance. Just run it at your pace and be a better runner because of that fact.

Not what you're looking for?
