W6r2: quite far in the program... Yet I still see running as a chore and as I run I can't wait for it to be over. I am in decent shape, I am a gym goer and do around 6 classes a week, including cycling, so I don't hate sports or cardio in general.

I must admit: I run on the treadmill, maybe (hopefully) that is why I am not enjoying it? I really don't want to not like jogging, it's so beneficial!

I don't feel particuparly tired or out of breath or have stitches just... bored/uncomfortablish.

Also, sharing my numbers!

It's the treadmill..get outside..wind ... weather...changing seasons..different routes...wonderful...πŸ˜‰

I am at the same point as you: I occasionally enjoy the actual running (I loved week 5 run 3) but usually so enjoy the feeling of accomplishment after. I am not fit and overweight, which doesn’t help. Maybe it is the monotony of the treadmill? You don’t get the scenery to distract you, the twists and turns, inclines and cambers to deal with which keeps the mind busy and I do think helps time to pass. Sadly it’s not the best weather to venture out!!

Agree with Oldfloss - nothing like running out of doors, very motivating! Plus gets your fix of Vitamin D, very important this time of year!

I really think I’d have given up the first run if I’d been on treadmill. I’m only on week 2 but I’m looking forward to the next run as soon I’ve finished one. Try getting out and braving the elements 😊

You answered your own question, in my opinion.

I have great respect for those who undertake C25K on a treadmill but cannot for the life of me understand how they can put up with the boredom of a hamster wheel.

At a recent gym induction I was asked if I would be using the running machine............ I just laughed........... why would you do that when there is a great big beautiful world out there to explore through the changing seasons and fresh air to breathe.

I can't imagine enjoying even ten minutes on a dreadmill.

Go outdoors!!

I agree Laura. I’m on Week 7 and due to do run 2 in a couple of days. I’ve only run once at the gym and hated every second. Found myself questioning what I was doing, I wasn’t going anywhere. Outside is so much nicer, I’m even enjoying running in the rain. The challenges of slight hills, of downhills and flats. Setting yourself goals to reach and just feeling tired but happy. I’m loving running and I think it sounds like you spend quite a lot of your fit time in the gym, why not get out and see if you enjoy it more. And let us know?

Well... where do I start with this? That treadmill vs outdoor thing again... *sigh*

It's clear you're a motivated and physically fit person and with being a committed gym-goer it was no-brainer that you looked at the treadmill and those on it and thought they'd be handy for C25K.

I (along with many others) did the whole of C25K on the treadmill because of ... reasons! After a few weeks of consolidation, I then ventured outdoors and 3 years after that, ran my first marathon, London, this April.

I like running outdoors (probably 70-80% of my running is outdoors) ...

and I like different aspects of running on a treadmill - it *is* tough at times but it depends on what you're doing and what your goals are. I find it *incredibly* useful (not enjoyable as such, but useful - it helps me achieve my goals and that's important to me).

The treadmill doesn't work for everyone, but it definitely works for *some* of us. It sounds like it isn't working for. Have you tried listening to music or watching a film/box set/TV etc while running/jogging?

If it really isn't working for you, then as the others have suggested, try a little run outdoors and see how you go.
