Not sure what my plan is right now.

Hi there my lovely running family.

I'm still here , plodding along. Not sure what my plan is at the moment. A few months back I was running everywhere and making my way up to 10k.

Then my back went and I was out of action for a about ten days. Then I fell over and my confidence was knocked. Then I got back out and was running but it was hard work and didn't like it as much as I wanted too. On one run the toxic ten kicked in at the end of the run and I felt like my calves belonged to someone else so I walked the rest of the way home (I had run 8 k at this point)

So my last two run I have done 5 k and I have really enjoyed them . I'm not sure where I'm going or what to do . I just want to keep running and enjoy every run again.

Well... you’ve done pretty well there but not enjoying it is a shame. You like 5k, maybe you’d like to follow a 5k race plan rather than working on distance? It will up your distance, but keep the focus in the run you enjoy with some speed work.

Thank you. That makes sense.

Hi Deborah, you're a runner. So you must always enjoy your running: plan to go out on runs that you enjoy.

The tale of graduated/got up to 10km/something broke/didn't enjoy it is very, very familiar. It gets reported often on this forum. Go easy on yourself: you probably ramped up the mileage too soon. Take your time, mix things up with some longer runs, but also some shorter, faster runs, and some runs with no goal or plan, just out running in the countryside for the sheer love of it. Or buy the OS map of where you live and plan to run every path on it. Get a train or bus somewhere, and run home. Why not start a (gentle) streak: plan to run 1km every day? The world is out there, and crying out to be noticed as you run past.

That's a great idea to catch a bus somewhere and run home . Thank you for your advice
