Treadmill okay?

Joined gym and have done W1. Arthritic foot so difficult to run on uneven surfaces. Overweight mid70s so feel self conscious running outdoors. Good to continue in gym??

Absolutely, why not, done all mine at the Gym, may hit the pavement soon, when it gets a bit cooler here in Cyprus. The main thing is you are doing something!

Running anywhere is fine. Many prefer outside for the added interests and benefits of fresh air and vit D, but horses for courses....Good luck👍😊🏃🏾‍♀️

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Set your treadmill at a gradient of at least one degree to simulate running outdoors, then if you ever venture out it will not be quite such a shock to the system.

Enjoy your journey.

16 days since I did my 1st post asking about threadmill running. Thanks for the replies. Well on the treadmill I have completed 6 week 1 runs and 4 week 2 runs and felt I was making some progress. Bright and sunny morning today so decided to try the outdoors. Listened to the podcast for week 1 and boy was it difficult. Managed maybe 3 x 60 seconds, the other runs I probably stopped a little before the end. Such a difference running outside. I can walk faster than I run as I am a regular golfer and get my 10k steps in most day. Taking the programme slowly by repeating as I am very late to this running lark (birthday no 74 next month and maybe 2 stone overweight so think I will have to work on my diet more. - on my bucket list to be able to run !!!).

Fascinating to read all the comments on the forum. Thank you
