Running shoes for woodland trails

Hi, I’m on Week 8 of the programme and have started to get a little niggle in my knee. Nothing serious but now need to change my trainers ASAP!!

I run on a mixture of grass and uneven trails through woodland. Can anyone recommend a good pair of trainers. I can’t pay the earth for them but am thinking up to around £75. I’ve been looking at women’s trail shoes, has anyone who runs on similar ground just bought normal trainers?

You can buy trail shoes if needs be. You can get away with road running shoes if it’s not too extreme. It’s when it gets wet that you’ll find out whether your road shoe can hack it. I wear my Nike Pegasus on the trail but only when it’s dry. You can get a hybrid shoe that can do both but only if not too extreme. Also you might not want to beat up your road shoes on the trail - they can get dirty and bashed about very quickly I got a pair of saucony peregrine for £50 and I like them very much If your trail is very stony you’re looking for a shoe with a rock plate

It will depend on how dry your trails are. If the footing is dry, then you will be fine with normal trainers, even if it is uneven; if it's muddy and/or slippery, you will find trall shoes make a massive difference.

Trail shoes are a very good idea, I love mine. As @misswobble said there's different shoes for muddy or stony terrains, chose what's appropriate for you. It's a good investment as they all she your road shoes too. I've got a pair of Adidas Kanadia that are waterproof and great in snow and some New Balance 749 that have excellent grip. Try some it and see what's best for you!
