Ligament & tendon damage ?

Well that’s 1 week since I was due my last run and after having a sore ankle I decided to postpone it.

Unfortunately my ankle got a lot worse and resulted in a doctor visit followed by an X-ray! No results back yet but have been told it’s likely soft tissue/ligament and tendon damage. Last year I suffered an ankle fracture and soft tissue damage so possibly not healed fully. I don’t recall going over on it this time, I just woke up one morning and couldn’t walk on my ankle. So around 10 days later and I’m still in pain! I can’t flex my foot, Achilles’ tendon swollen and sore and inside ankle very sore. I have continued working (physical job) and walking on it all this time thinking was just a simple ache so reluctantly giving in and taking time off to try let it heal.

Looks like I won’t be running for a long time, if at all again if I’m going to keep suffering problems.

Really sorry to hear that, you must be so disappointed but you know you have to give things the time they need to heal. I hope you recover quickly and do eventually get back to running - it will still be there when your body is ready again. 😊

I have a similar problem. It's been eight months since I last ran due to a sore inner ankle which turned out to be soft tissue damage. It's been a long road so far and I have an appointment with the Consultant next week to discuss options. My injury feels the same now as when it first occurred....neither better or worse. I don't think I will run again 😔

Aww that’s not good. My injury from last year seemed to have healed, or so I thought but in a bid to lose weight I started c25k plus cycling and walking all at the one time so really not sure how ive done it this time. I’ve just had to call into work to take shifts off but the pain is worse now than it was at start, that’s coming up on 2 weeks since I’ve done it and still in lot of pain. I’ve just had to take painkillers twice through the night to try get some sleep! Hope you feeling better soon
