One week break after week 4

Hi Everyone. I am gutted that I haven’t been able to run for a week, since I caught a horrible cold. I still have a tickly cough, but I really want to get on to week 5. I hardly ever get colds, so this was a blow.. I’m not sure how long to leave it before getting back to running, and not sure whether to have a go at week 5 or repeat week 4. What do people think? I am really enjoying this community, and would never have got as far as this without it.

Hi..The rule is.. above the neck .. fine... below the neck... wait until better :)

If it is a chesty cough or anything more serious, you need to feel recovered before heading out again...

Really, as long as you are not struggling for breath or have a chest based cough... you are good to go. If you completed Week 4, then move on... slowly and gently and listening to your body:)

We do not lose fitness that rapidly :)

Thank you! I just need to convince my husband (a non-runner) that I’m not going to keel over...😀

Lovely...what a nice husband.. just go gently... we call it an Irishprincess jogette.. she invented the term after a spell on the IC.:)

It describes how we head out after an illness or injury.... just gently and taking real note of how we feel as we go.

A run can be beneficial for clearing the last lingering remnants of snuffly cold!

Keep us posted please:)
