Just started C25K and bizarrely (fat 49 year old with knee pain) I'm loving it and both dreading and looking forward to my runs. Just finished W3R1 and felt OK, ran 5 minutes in place of the last 3. I actually feel better on later parts rather than the first running section of the day.

I've had a look at the future (Weeks 4 and 5) and I'm scared but I look at all the great comments and posts and how good people feel after the dreaded W5R3 20-minuter and I believe them. So, onwards.

First actual running since I was 22! Mid-life crisis I suppose.

To all those starting out - no, a fortnight ago I wouldn't have thought I could do it either but it works.

Well done. As a fat 42 year old with bad knees and a dodgy back, I've just finished week 5.

If you had told me a month ago that I'd be able to run for 20 minutes, I would have asked what you've been smoking :-)

It really does work

Thank you. I've already done more than I thought I could so I do believe in "the system" now, even if I'm not sure about myself. Just going to keep on going. The 20 minutes is a worry but I'll get there. I reckon after that it has to be easier.

I was dreading W5R3, but in the end I found it very easy to do. Don't stress too much and believe in Jo :-)

Hi Ian_Boys, well done! I’m also “Ian”, also 49, also carrying too much around the middle and also on week 3. But I’m enjoying the challenge, feeling the improvement and have already registered for a park run. Can’t wait for week 9 and graduation. If anyone on the East Kent coast wants a training companion and are at or around week 3, I’ve got a very scenic and most important, FLAT, course that is circular and exactly 5km. Cheers and keep up the good work, Ian.

Go us! I'm up in Manchester and have a country lane that's 2.5km each way so I hope to see the end of it one day. Not very flat but not too bad. See you on graduation!
