It's now been 8 days since I picked up a minor calf muscle injury at the end of week 8 and the frustration of not being able to get back out there and run is unbearable.
As I've mentioned previously the not allowing myself to run is a bigger mental challenge than any of the runs that have been thrown at me so far during this program.
From what I've been advised this kind of injury takes on average 1 to 2 weeks to heel, yet after only 8 days it feels like a lifetime ago since I last ran.
Saturday was a good day leg wise, I went the entire day without so much as a niggle, leaving me thinking I'll be back in action either last night or today. Today however I'm back to receiving the odd twinge here which is frustrating. Obviously I'm just going to have to remain patient and hopefully be able to get back out again some time this week.
What I would like to know however is what run should I be attempting upon my return? In my mind I'm at the end of week 8 start of week 9 stage. Stamina wise I'm hoping to have not lost too much, however will this be too much on the leg given that it will not have been run on for about 2 weeks? Should I maybe start off again at an earlier week and build up again?

I had a week and a half off due to a virus between runs 1 and 2 of week 8, and went back in to W8R2 without a problem, despite feeling like it had been an age since my last run. I did go extra slowly, though!
Thank you, I'm really hoping it won't be much longer.
It's good to know you were able to get back into it at the same level. I shall probably go out there and give week 9 a shot. Worst that can happen is that I don't manage it and work my way back towards it I guess.
The trouble is with any calf injury.. we think they have healed and they have not.... I had a minor calf tear.... did everything by the book ...but in the end had to see a Sports Physio... I was off, in total 12 weeks... my comeback was slow and steady... ( as ever)
When you are ready.. and I assume you have been doing calf exercises..then head out for a jogette.... a really gentle one... your body and your calf will let you know what is what
