Have just completed week 7, start week 8 tomorrow but decided I would do a run today as I have been enjoying it. I felt the humidity would be too much so decided to go to the gym and do a treadmill run. It felt awful, I couldn’t get the right pace, my legs hurt and actually had to slow down to a walk about 15 minutes in. Has anyone else found issues with this?
Treadmill run was not fun! : Have just completed... - Couch to 5K
Treadmill run was not fun!
I don’t think this will be much help but I’ve pretty much only run on a treadmill (this morning I started this programme from the beginning and actually did my first outdoor run).
The most I was able to run was about 15 minutes without stopping. I also find that I focus quite a lot on the time.
What I used to do was try to focus on the distance over the time. I’d start off at a slow pace (around 8k/hour) and then every 100m I’d increase it by .1, then when I’d done 1k I’d go back down to my initial starting speed. I found that distracted me enough and 100m isn’t too far for the pace to be too fast.
Granted I don’t think this really helped but hey. It is really hard to get the right pace, but the treadmills I go on tell you your pace as well as the speed, so if you know your normal pace outdoors then I guess that’s a good place to start and then just adjust accordingly. It is definitely different to run on a treadmill to running on your own.
The only thing about being inside is, I can go faster... the thunderstorms, lightning and the torrential rain on Friday meant I had to use my trainer... ( I had a run to get in)...I did 6 K in 20 minutes and 58 seconds..yeayayyaya!! Just call me speedy snail
I also had a great virtual run to watch... blinking great...but as for replacing the great outdoors...NEVER!!!!
It was.. I took a pikkie to prove to myself I did it!! Imagine running that outside ...😉I was a tad warm after😊
