Hi, what fun to be here! Did W1R1 yesterday, and man what a world of pain I'm in now lol. Managed to do 7 of the 8 runs though and had to walk through the fifth coz I was so knackered. Steady she goes. As soon as I got home my hips were really tight and locked up, ankles and knees quite sore. Today they're a little better but still hobbling somewhat. Weird, because I went the same route where I walk 5 km most days at 5km p/hr pace. My cardio health deffo in need of improvement.
Has anyone else experienced bad joint pain? My muscles seem ok but the joints are scaring me a bit. Already holding a shoulder injury and cannot risk get anymore. Any advice from others who have experienced similar much appreciated ☺

If this is pain specifically after the runs and not due to any health conditions then slow your runs down and stretch afterwards. Link below. I also do a movie thing 15 min yoga (there's lots on you tube). If it's down to a condition perhaps a word with your health professional.
Your walking will have helped your aerobic system but not your running muscles as the action is different.
Hey AnnieW55, thanks so much for your thoughtful response! Yes, the pain seems specific to the run/walk so hopefully no underlying problems lurking. I'll slow down for the next one, although it really did feel like I was going pretty slowly anyway. Especially as there were a bunch of guys in the park all doing running sprints and flew by me, seemingly at Mach 1 😀
I have been doing Yoga with Adriene online (which is how I wrecked my shoulder) so great idea to incorporate some yoga stretches when finishing up.
I just finished w2 r3 - I had horrible hip pain, then knee pain in w1 and spent most of it on anti inflammatories, w2 got gradually better - my butt hurts today 😆 but I think it’s all heading in the right direction. I was told keep slow and accept that this is a massive shock to the system if you haven’t run for over 20 years
Crittermad, congratulations on W2R3!! Awesome stuff. Sorry to hear of your aches n pains, but also reassuring that I'm not alone in the suffering lol. Yes I think the advice to keep it slow will be my mantra. I haven't run since I was a teenager ... and even then ... not so much 🙄 so yeah, total shock to the system. Thinking I might even either just run for 30 seconds instead, or do every second run and see how that feels. I don't mind a bit of pain but I really don't want to risk hurting more joints!
Hey thanks, RobW73! I'm so chuffed I've started this First time out was tricky, but really enjoyed it overall. Taking an extra rest day today for the aches, then will hit the trail again tomorrow. Thanks for your encouragement.
running - well done! I used to be baffed by all those red faced runners but well glad I’ve finally got it! Week 1 done and hoping my very sore Achilles’ tendon gets better quick as I don’t
