I am just watching the marathon, part of the commonwealth games....what drives these machines? They just go on...& on...& on....why is this? Why is it that I get to McDonalds & think...ok, Laura, where are you?? And then up she pops & that keeps me going......all these runners have nothing but whooping & offers of water to keep them going....they are amazing....BUT....then I remember that amazing feeling that graduation brings....or the feeling that completing a run on the programme brings....& these runs would be nothing to these athletes but to us they are MASSIVE.....ding (lightbulb)....we are all different, we all have strengths, we all have weaknesses, whether they’re emotional or physical....sometimes our legs feel like they could run like Forest Gump...sometimes they feel like they weigh as much as the house we’ve just left....& we don’t always know till we get going....but SOMETHING keeps us out there...just like something keeps these altheletes running when they are at the end of their tether....nobody is incapable of this therapeutic form of exercise....it’s mind over matter....everything, except your head says you can do it....well, ignore the thoughts telling you that you can’t because most of your body is telling you that you can, it’s just that your head says it a bit louder sometimes....
Phew....: I am just watching the marathon, part... - Couch to 5K
Phew....
Why does anybody climb Mt Everest? Why would anybody swim the Channel ?? etc, etc.
Is it cos we're all a bit bonkers lol
...thoughts to Scotlands Callum Hawkins who collapsed whilst out in the lead. A huge talent and definately major titles ahead for him. Hope he recovers well.
He had only a mile to go too. There's going to be an investigation into why it took so long to get help to him. The guy who was running second apparently ran past even though Callum was on the ground.
Bless that poor Scottish guy that was leading in the Marathon. I hope he ok that was heartbreaking to see him staggering everywhere n no medics in sight for what seemed like forever! 😢
We watched that too😯..the poor guy literally ran himself into the ground, he was delirious. Heartbreaking to see. The conditions were much too hot, don't know how they ran that Marathon...😐
It is the guilt I feel if I don't go running. The other day I went running at 11pm because I felt so bad I would miss my planned run day. It is crazy 😜. The feeling after is priceless.
